“DOWNHILL ON BIKE FROM THE HIGHEST POINT IN ECUADOR AND ONE OF THE HIGHEST IN THE PLANET”
The tour begins from Riobamba , we pick you up at your hotel and drive you by 4WD to the first shelter (Carrel Brothers) 4800 meters , we have a short hike from the first to the second shelter (Edward Whymper) 5000 meters , return the first shelter and we start biking downhill.
You can choose between 3 different routes:
ROUTE 1
Route is designed for beginners; we will take a relaxed ride down hill and enjoying the flora and fauna in Chimborazo Wildlife Reserve.
- Level: Easy
- Distance: 32 km downhill, 7.5 km on dirt route and 24.5 km on pavement
- Highest altitude: Whymper shelter 5000 masl (16.405 feet)
- Lowest altitude: San Juan 3200 masl (10.500 feet)
- Total time: 5 to 6 hours
ROUTE 2
Exclusive route of Biking Spirit. We will ride primarily on dirt roads and single tracks through archaeological inka ruins, mineral springs and Indian communities; you will observe magnificent views of Chimborazo ' s south face.
- Level: Moderate
- Distance: 35 km, 26 km on dirt route and 9 km on pavement
- Uphill distance: 2 km approximated
- Downhill distance: 32 km approximated
- Highest altitude: Whymper shelter 5000 masl (16.405 feet)
- Lowest altitude: San Juan 3200 masl (10.500 feet)
- Total time: 6 to 8 hours
ROUTE 3
Trip for experienced bikers that want to test their physical condition. We ride down following single tracks and ascend some uphills as far as “4 corners community” where we start a long uphill until Urbina Mountain Lodge
- Level: Difficult
- Distance: 39 km, 24 km on dirt route, 10 km on cobblestone and dirt route and 5 km on pavement
- Uphill distance: 13 km approximated
- Downhill distance: 24 km approximated
- Highest altitude: Whymper shelter 5000 masl (16.405 feet)
- Lowest altitude: 4 esquinas community 3200 masl (10.500 feet)
- Total time: 8 to 10 hours
